9月13日，外交部发言人毛宁举行例行记者会。
有记者提问，印度国家安全顾问多瓦尔和王毅主任昨天在圣彼得堡会见，讨论了两国之间的问题。印方的消息稿称，双方同意进行合作、加倍努力，在剩余（边境）地区实现完全脱离接触。此外，印度外交部长苏杰生在日内瓦昨天表示，印中边境脱离接触75%已解决，但更大的问题是边界日益军事化，印中在双边关系能否实现突破。
毛宁表示，9月12日，王毅主任在圣彼得堡会见了印度国家安全顾问多瓦，双方讨论了近期边境事务磋商取得的进展，一致同意落实两国领导人的共识，努力增进理解和互信，为双边关系的改善创造条件，并同意就此继续保持沟通。
她表示，近年来，双方一线部队已经在中印边界的西段加勒万河谷等4个地区实现了脱离接触，中印边境的局势总体是稳定可控的。
